Frequently asked questions

How do I know if a Steam game uses AI?

Since January 2024 Valve asks developers to disclose AI-generated content when they submit a game. The disclosure appears on the store page under “AI Generated Content Disclosure”. Steam AI Filter reads that section for you and shows the developer’s own description.

Can I filter AI games out of the Steam store?

Steam has no built-in store filter for AI-generated content. You can check single games here, scan your whole wishlist with the wishlist scanner, or use community tools such as SteamDB and browser extensions. See the guide for step-by-step options.

Does “no disclosure” mean a game has no AI content?

Not necessarily. Disclosures are written by developers themselves. A game without a disclosure has not told Steam it uses AI-generated content, which is the best public signal available, but it is not a guarantee.

What is the difference between pre-generated and live-generated AI content?

Pre-generated content (art, voices, text) is made with AI during development and ships with the game. Live-generated content is created by AI while you play. Developers describe which one applies in their disclosure.

Is Steam AI Filter free?

Checking a single game is free and unlimited. The wishlist scanner checks the first 10 games of a public wishlist for free; scanning the full wishlist uses one scan credit.
